The Basics: If you’re looking to experience and get your drink and eat on at an authentic Spanish Tapas place, this is not the place for you, as it is more of a “Spanish fusion” joint… ahora sí que lo único que tiene de Español es el nombre. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad place, it’s actually a pretty decent place for, say, a first date or a group gathering. With that in mind, “Olé Tapas Bar” is a great place to lounge for SFV locals and the occasional visitors.

“Olé Tapas Bar” has a cool sexy vibe that’s even more enhanced by their décor and color palette. They also have an outside seating area and lounge which comes in handy for the smokers and when it’s hot.

Overall, the place is quiet and awesome for chillaxing, plus the service is friendly, approachable, and very accommodating.

What to drink: Unfortunately their sangria is rather uneventful, it seems too watered down and it’s just missing a little zest. Lo chido es que cuentan con un full bar, so you can pretty much order whatever… kudos on their mojitos, which are surprisingly good and refreshing.

If you’re into wine, you’ll be glad to learn that they have a great selection of Spanish, Chilean and Californian wines.

What to eat: The exciting thing about Tapas bars is the fact that you get to eat a little bit of everything, the bad thing about it, at least at “Olé” is that most of the items in the menu seem a bit overpriced.

With that in mind, la Placa Caliente te caerá como anillo al dedo since you get a little bit of everything at a fairly reasonable price. You get sautéed shrimp, sautéed mushroom & artichokes, fried goat cheese, calamari, and patatas bravas.

F.Y.I., their goat cheese is a must, con la probadita que viene en la Placa Caliente no es suficiente, así que es recomendable que pidas una orden de Queso Frito con Miel- you’ll get some more fried goat cheese goodness with honey.

They also have a Placa Fria, which is also good, but not as tasty or impressive as the hot one. The Placa Fria comes with Manchego cheese, Spanish olives, Piquillo peppers, Serrano ham, and bruschetta.
