Cuevo Perez
By Hilda Gabriela
With the essence of a nomadic musician, Mexican rocker, Cuevo Perez, best known simply as “Cuevo”, has been captivating audiences with his bluesy rock riffs and lyrics of love, life and rock n' roll. His “Hasta que el sol se vaya” attempt is supported by Carrusel Records, same label that houses San Diego based rockers, Los Hollywood, to whom Cuevo served as producer for their debut album. Cuevo's previous musical hat came in the shape of guitarist to Maleco Collective, an indie rock band that sprouted from the hubs of Echo Park and enlisted the skills of Hip-Hop Artist, Malverde, and Latin Grammy Nominee, Marthin Chan. Cuevo's current musical project counts with Jumbo member Enrique "Bugs" Gonzalez on drums, Fran Iturbe on guitar, Cesar Pliego on bass, and Eugene Toale on sax. Cuevo will be headlining the forthcoming Al Borde Acoustic Sessions alongside freshman rocker, Gustavo Galindo, and will also be officially releasing his “Hasta que el sol se vaya” album at the September 10th Al Borde event at El Gallo Plaza in East Los Angeles.

Gustavo Galindo
By Hilda Gabriela
Gustavo Galindo is flying with the best of them. His debut album, “Entre la ciudad y el mar”, aims to establish him as one of the freshest faces of popular Latin rock and is spearheaded by none other than Gustavo Santaolalla and his Surco Records label, which in the past, has catapulted artists such as multi Grammy award recipient, Juanes, into mainstream stardom. “Entre la ciudad y el mar” also breathes with the help of Adrián Sosa, Aníbal Kerpel, Víctor Indrizzo and Josh Sonntag, veterans of Latin music and key players within the industry. Galindo's rock-infused ballads have been compared to that of Bruce Springsteen, a sound that according to the singer, has been stewing since he first laid fingers on the guitar many years ago. Galindo was born in Mexico to a Mexican father and American mother, and moved to the states at the early age of five. After pursuing an educational career and forming indie rock band, Blue Judy, Galindo recorded his first demo titled “La ciudad” (2007), which to its fate landed in the hands of Santaolalla. Since working avidly to perfect his sound and that of “Entre la ciudad y el mar”, Galindo has took to the stage to promote the forthcoming album opening for Latin favorites such as Ximena Sariñana and will also serve as opening tenor for Ely Guerra's US “Hombre Invisible” tour. Gustavo Galindo is also taking part of the upcoming Al Borde Acoustic Sessions alongside local rocker, Cuevo Perez, where his “Cancion Pa'l Norte” and “Te Perdi” songs from “Entre la ciudad y el mar” will surely enchant the Latin Alternative audience.
