Apocalyptica Will Rock the City of Angels

Apocalyptica, the Finnish band that has interconnected the sounds of orchestral cello and head-banging rock for the past 17 years is coming to play in Los Angeles at Club Nokia on September 8.
Fans at Apocalyptica’s concerts can see rock ballads in action at each of its concerts. Long, flowing locks swinging in the air are as identifiable as the members energetically playing the cellos and drums. Tickets for the concert go on sale July 24, so get yours quickly!
The band has traveled all over Europe and North America during its latest tour. Its most recent stop was in Mexico where the band performed two sold-out shows at the Teatro Nacional. Throngs of fans came out to line up for hours in order to meet the band members, get autographs, and chat with the musical group. The band even made a short video and put it on its website to thank the fans from Mexico and show footage of all the support they garnered as well as clips from the show.
In 1993, Eicca Toppinen and Paavo Lötjönen decided to use their classical cello training and form a band after playing Metallica covers at Sibelius Academy. Perttu Kivilaakso joined six years later and added another cello to the mix. In 2003, Mikko Sirén brought the final touch of rock as a drummer.
The ensemble’s albums have ranged from cello-infused instrumentals to atmospheric interludes. In its 7th album, 7th Season, the band jams out in a symphonic album, also mixed in with rock songs that deliver to its fans a creative evolution. Some of the songs to listen out for are “End of Me” which features Bush’s frontman, Gavin Rossdale. The album’s release is set for August 23.
Another song on the album is “Beautiful”, which is an all-orchestral piece that features drummer Mikko Sirén on bass guitar, a first for him. In a press release from the band, Toppinen says, “It was the first time Mikko played bass in his life. It’s a beautiful acoustic song recorded in one take in the studio.”
The band decided to strip the song bare, acoustically and physically. With only their instruments and the recording device, the four musicians played their instruments completely naked!
