Kinky “Barracuda”

September 30th saw the digital release of Kinky’s fourth album. The tangible “Barracuda” album is set to hit stores in early 2009. With this release and without loosing touch to the dance-dance retro-rrific sounds that originally put this Mexican band on the map, Kinky shows their ability to embrace foreign melodic sounds as well as explore profound lyrics of self-realization and worldly exploration. Creating all around dance tracks, the albums first single is “Avion”, a song which lyrics were composed by lead singer Gil after the bands near death experience aboard a light aircraft.

Produced in their L.A. based studio, Kinky welcomed Beastie Boys’ Money Mark, Molotov’s Randy and Kin Kon Records’ newest talent, “Chico Sonido” to contribute to the album. Recyclying unused beats and digitally available filters, the band made use of someone else’s no-good goods to add layers of sounds to their already eccentric tunes.
