Jesse & Joy- “Electricidad”

Good news is, la espera ha terminado and the new Jesse & Joy album “Electricidad” has finally been released… bad news is, de electricidad solo tiene el título. Don’t get me wrong, the album itself is actually quite good… you’ll be surprised by the quality of the music and the well produced overall product, not to mention Joy’s voice sounds impeccable in each and every of the songs. The problem is not the talented duo, ya que han probado que tienen mucha tela de donde cortar; the root of the problem lies within the direction, or lack of it… the album seems to be going somewhere but it never really takes off. The songs are beautifully crafted and executed, yet they bring nothing new to the table. Again, “Electricidad” is a decent follow up to their debut album, but taking in consideration their talent and their potential, Jesse & Joy opted for the easy way out and filled their album with crowd pleasers and no brainers.
While that may be a good thing for anyone that wants to sell records, and lets be honest, if you’re in the music biz you definitely wanna sell records, pero lo gacho es que en muchas de las canciones you can’t even tell who’s singing. You know its Jesse & Joy’s new album “Electricidad” because you’re either holding it in your hands or because your iPod tells you it’s them singing… but if it weren’t for those two odds are very few people will be able to tell Jesse & Joy apart from other pop/ rock acts.
