Gustavo Galindo and Various Latin Alternative Acts, Loud and Proud at Mexico’s Bicentennial Celebrations in Mexico City

Gustavo Galindo

After a stellar performance at Al Borde’s Acoustic Sessions where his Latin rock tunes put the crowd in a rockin’ daze, Gustavo Galindo now takes his soon to be released “Entre la Ciudad y el Mar” repertoire to celebrate Mexico’s Bicentennial of Independence in Mexico City.

According to Galindo, the invitation to partake in the largest live event in his country’s history is a huge honor for him since returning to Mexico symbolizes a return home. Galindo, who was born in Mexico City and moved to the United States at an early age, states that although much of his musical career and musical development has flourished in the states, it is also on Mexican terrain where he hopes to acquire success.

The celebration of Mexican Independence has been a celebratory event for many years throughout Mexico, but with 2010 serving as the 200th year anniversary of Mexican independence from colonial Spain, the celebrations are magnified with carnivals, festivals, live concerts and televised showcases all throughout the Mexican region and in neighboring countries.

Ely GuerraOther Latin Alternative acts that took part of the celebratory concert were Latin Alternative artists Lo Blondo (Hello Seahorse!), Ely Guerra, Aleks Syntek, Natalia Lafourcade, Alondra de la Parra, Zoe, Maldita Vecindad and Lila Downs. The concerts were held in three stages, including the Paseo de la Reforma: El Ángel de la Independencia, and at the Cuauhtémoc y la Glorieta del Caballito monument as well.

Following their Mexican Bicentennial performance, both Gustavo Galindo and Ely Guerra will prepare for their September 29th and 30th concerts at West Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre and Costa Mesa’s Detroit Bar. Ely Guerra will be showcasing her latest musical production “Hombre Invisible” and Gustavo Galindo will open tenor with his Gustavo Santaolalla produced album, “Entre la Ciudad y el Mar”.
