Love, Just Love in Carla Morrison's First Music Video, “Compartir”

Indie songstress, Carla Morrison, recently released her first official music video and has been non stop since her performance at Al Borde's Acoustic Sessions. The video clip was for her “Compartir” single, first from her soon to be released and Natalia Lafourcade-produced Mientras tu Dormias album. The video was shot in the outskirts of Morrison's hometown, Tecate, Baja California, and produced by Tijuana-based Arteleria Estudio.

According to Morrison, the concept to the video was a simple one: love, simply love. On what seems to be train tracks to nowhere and with a briefcase in hand that in some shots is replaced by the guitar, Morrison is seen walking the tracks with only the desert-like Tecate terrain and mid-summer sunset as her backdrop.

Of what is now the first video production of her musical career, Morrison states that she couldn't be more pleased with the final version. "“Compartir” is a love song and the video supports it in a very romantic way.  It represents the simplicity that love can offer without any decorative fireworks. It's just love.”

Although the video gives the impression that only two souls were witnessing the filming of the video: Morrison and the camera person, it was a crew of six that made it possible to shoot the video in one continuous shot. “It was so funny!” she states. “The crew was running around behind the camera guy and some of them would pass me the guitar and the suitcase, and at one point they tried to put my electric guitar on me and accidentally hit me right on my nose! We had to cut for a moment and eventually kept filming. We all just kept laughing.”

 

Morrison prides herself in her first video release and was pleased to aport her suggestions to the production of it as well. The red flowers that fill the suitcase, for example, were her idea and her way of saying “here is my love, whenever you need it kinda thing”.
