Goodbye Weirdo’s, hello Abominables

Al Borde introduced them to you as Six Million Dollar Weirdo (SM$W). And now with a new line up in play but following the same tunes as the old SM$W was known for, Al Borde re-introduces them to you this time around under their new band name, Abominables.
The band, which was previously made up of Dr. Bonas, Aboo on vocals, Zette on drums and Tammy on bass, parted ways with one of its original creators, Dr.Bonas, and welcomed two more female members. The amicable split came as a need to pursue different musical ventures and according to Aboo, is an opportunity for the new band to play with new sounds. The new band now consisting of the previous three and new members Lauren (keyboards) and Monny (guitar), kicked off their new band by playing old SM$W tunes but is currently working on their own material. As for the “new” sound that Abominables will put on the table, new member Tammy states in an interview that they will follow the same synth-punk route of SM$W but will pimp it up with more dance-infused 80’s punk.
“Super Lover”, for example, is one of Abominables latest and original tracks which lays as a Weird Science meets Twilight Zone tune and is less glam-punk than the "Horror Amor" tune that S$DW fans favored. On the other hand, "Hot Pink Passion" is an easily listening love song that is carried by a slower version of Love Transmission’s ooh ooh ooh and suddenly breaks into a Kenny-G type solo…that’s right, Kenny-G!
Until Abominables puts out their first release, all assumptions as to what to expect from this newly defined band are fair game. But for now, you can check them out on their My Space page where they’re breaking off a piece of their recently hooked up sound.
Happy surfing!
