Na Ali'i (Hawaiian Monarchy)
Wednesday, 26 August 2009 10:36
If you think you know Hawaiian dance just from watching movies and catching glimpses of it in other media outlets, you’ll be surprised to find out that, while traditional Hawaiian dance has some elements of what’s usually depicted, there’s more to it than hips sensually swaying. The KilohanaKilohana Dance Company is proud to present hula as you’ve never seen it before: as an intricate dance form that requires extended training with both ancient techniques and contemporary potential. Lo más chido de “Na Ali’i”, aside from experiencing this en vivo y a todo color, the dancers will receive help from Hawaiian musicians performing live. Además you’ll get a piece of history as the dancers and musicians depict through movement Hawaii’s rich history, starting with their first king, up until they became part of the US.
