HIV Doubtful? Get tested

This week the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Office of AIDS Programs & Policy, wants you to Erase the Doubt of your HIV status by getting tested.
Here are some facts you need to know about HIV in Los Angeles:
* There are approximately 60,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in LA County.
* 1 in 5 Angelenos who have HIV don't know it.
* Over half of all new HIV infections in LA County are spread by people who have it and don't know it.
* 13,000 people in Los Angeles have HIV and don't know it.
* 65% of those infected with HIV are under 40 years old.
* You are up to 5 times more likely to get HIV if you already have an STD.
* African-Americans make up 9.8% of Los Angeles County’s population, but account for 22% of living HIV/AIDS cases.
* Over 31,000 people have died of AIDS in LA County.
