Tequila And Wine Never Looked This Good

When fashion and art meet tequila and wine.

Without a doubt, tequila and wine go hand-in-hand with fashion. Or at least that’s what we’ve come to learn from the collaborations of prestige tequila and wine labels, with that of artiste from around the world.  Mexican artists such as Jerónimo López Ramírez, aka Dr. Lakra, as well as urban artists and fashion designers on the scale of Karl Lagerfeld and Emilio Pucci, have dressed some of the most popular libations from the base up in graphic art and couture.

Dr. Lakra, for example, was chosen as this year’s creative mind behind the redesign of the packaging for José Cuervo’s 2011 Edition of Reserva de la Familia. Dr. Lakra is a graffiti artist known for his macabre and sensual designs, and his artwork for the 16th installment of the limited edition handcrafted collection was no exception. And in 2009, 10 designers from around the globe gave José Cuervo’s classic Tequila 1800 bottle an urban edge as well. As part of an online design contest, artists were asked to redesign a Tequila 1800 bottle for their chance to have it included in a limited edition collection of the label. Although only 10 artists were selected for the first collection, the long-term purpose of the contest is to find 1800 of the most creative artists from around the world to continue with the release of the limited edition collection.

And in regards to wine, earlier this year, it was announced that Jade Jagger, jewelry designer and daughter of Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, would create a label for Croix de Beaucaillou, the second wine of the French wine Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou. In 2009 famed designer Karl Lagerfeld was asked to design a label for Chanel’s Chateau Rauzan Segla to commemorate its 350th anniversary and in 1996, Veuve Clicquot had a limited edition bottle that was dressed by Emilio Pucci.

Now, whether the libations are as pleasing to taste as they are to see, is still a question at hand. We give you a week to report your findings. Cheers and salud!
