Anime Expo comes to L.A.

You can dress like your favorite character and get a scoop of the latest animation productions at Anime Expo, North America’s largest anime and manga convention, which kicks off this week at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with a marathon of celebs, concerts and more.
Fans of Japanese animation, manga and pop culture will meet the creative forces behind the industry and will be able to participate in several activities including cosplay, karaoke, video competitions, exclusive screenings, artist panels, autograph sessions and much more during the 4 days event, scheduled for July 1 – 4, 2010,
Anime Expo returns to the Los Angeles Convention Center with its largest exhibition and show program ever – and for the first time rocks the Nokia Theatre, Nokia Plaza and J.W. Marriott Ballroom with concerts, dancing, and events, including the AX Idol Contest, Battle of the Bands and the wildly popular, Masquerade.Some of Anime Expo highlights include: A behind-the-scenes perspective and the latest scoop from artists including voice actresses Yui Horie (Love Hina, Toradora!) and Eri Kitamura (Blood+ and Kodomo no Jikan); animator Toshihiro Kawamoto (Cowboy Bebop, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083); anime director and voice actor Shinichi “Nabeshin” Watanabe (Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemy); voice actors Yuu Asakawa (Love Hina, School Rumble), Katsuyuki Konishi (Gurren Lagann, Mobile Suit Gundam 00) and Kyle Hebert (Gurren Lagann, Dragonball Z); manga artist Rei Hiroe (BLACK LAGOON); and Internet sensation Danny Choo.
Special Screenings: Including the world premiere of the highly anticipated third installment of BLACK LAGOON Roberta’s Blood Trail and the U.S. debut of the Eden of the East TV series.
Music & Dancing: Concerts by J-rock bands and music artists including Sophia, Megumi Nakajima and May’n, MELL, BENI and AKB48, as well as dancing to an eclectic mix of international sounds produced by acclaimed Japanese DJs.
